Tips For Caring For Your Outdoor Camping Gear

Camping is one of Minnesota’s favorite pastimes in the summer. Many items used for camping can be hard to clean and care for. Tents should have yearly cleaning and maintenance including spraying them with a water repellent. You will also want to patch any holes to keep out water and insects. Sleeping bags are usually too large for regular washing machines. They may also have special care instructions on the label so we recommend bringing them to your local Pilgrim Dry Cleaners. Backpacks should also be sprayed regularly with a water repellent and cream should be applied to any leather bags to prevent cracking from sun exposure. For leather, we recommend bringing the item to one of our stores for cleaning. Rainwear can develop odors and bacteria which can cause infections. Make sure these items are dry before folding and storing.
